The fine print, in plain words.

Registering for The Sungai Long Run 2026 means you agree to everything below. The 10km Challenge and 6km Relay have additional rules — those are at the bottom.

General rules

  1. 1

    The Sungai Long Run 2026 is organised by Sungai Long Specialist Hospital in collaboration with Sungai Long Resident Association, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Monkeys Canopy.

    All prospective participants must complete an entry form in the official online registration or any authorised forms for registration provided by the Organisers. Participants are deemed as participants in the race upon payment and agreeing to the waiver of the Organisers' liability as stated in the online registration or manual forms.

    The official online registration and/or authorised manual registration must be filled in the names as stated in the identity card (IC) or passport, and a confirmation of the participant's agreement to abide by all event Rules and Regulations. Registration for participation in the race is only confirmed upon the successful completion of the race entry form, entry fee payment and issuance of a race identification number.

    Participants must complete their registration details with true, accurate and current information correctly and not provide misinformation. Inaccurate or incomplete information may be grounds for disqualification or barring from the event with no issuance of a refund.

    Participants must agree to receive contact from the Organisers from time to time by email. Any notice sent by email by the Organisers or the party so assigned by the Organiser to the supplied address on the registration form shall be deemed received by the Participants.

    Only participants wearing the bib for the events can take part in the respective run. Transfer of bib registration is not allowed unless consented by the Organiser.

    The top 3 prizes in each competitive event may be timed manually but it in accordance to the rules set by the Selangor Athletic Association, the body giving the sanction. In times of contention, the final decision will be made by the Race Organiser's technical chief and it will be based on the road marshals and evidence submitted. Any contention must be done within half hour from the time of result release, by the contending party and contested party.

    Abiding rules and regulation of the event and local laws: In addition to adhering to the event's Rules and Regulations, all participants will be required to abide to all local laws and customs while participating in the event.

    Waiver for loss clause: The Organisers will not be responsible for any loss and/or damage, personal or otherwise to the participants for any conditions in respect of the race and the organisation of the event including all management of the event whether it be in respect to the location, logistic, etc.

    Indemnity against the Organisers: The participant shall indemnify the Organiser for any loss or damages that is suffered by the Organisers for any legal action taken against the Organiser by any third party for any fault caused by the participant.

    Baggage deposit: Baggage is kept at the risk of the participant.

    The Organisers reserve the right to modify or substitute any of these rules & regulations (R&Rs) and/or terms & conditions (T&Cs) from time to time as they deem fit. If there is ambiguity in any of these provisions, the Organisers shall be the authority to interpret and in so doing, they will take into account the interests of all the affected participants. Any amendments to these R&Rs and/or T&Cs will be updated on the Organisers' website or social media page.

    Postponement on situation beyond control. The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event at any time with or without prior notice to the Participant; in which case they will make reasonable effort to inform the Participant prior to the date of the event. If the event has to be postponed, there shall be no refund of fees paid if the participants are unable to take part on the next event date; the Organisers shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.

    Participant's waiver on safety: Whilst reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure the Participants' safety, the Participants take part in the event at their own risk and the Organisers will not be responsible or held liable for any injury or death howsoever arising from training for or during participation in the Event. Participants and/or their assignees or successor, upon registration hereby waive their rights to take any legal action or make any claims, whether or not arising from contract or negligence or under any laws or enactment or misunderstanding by the Participants of any aspect of this event, against the Organisers for any loss, injury and damage pertaining to their participation in the Event.

    Participants are strongly encouraged to consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual event day to access their fitness level for their participation in the event.

Special terms — Monkeys Canopy 10km Challenge

  1. (i)

    The 10km run will start from Monkeys Canopy Resort. Participants are encouraged to park their car at the resort. They will run towards the finish line in front of Sungai Long Specialist Hospital.

  2. (ii)

    Upon completion of the run, transportation will bring 10km participants back to the parking area at the resort. There will be a baggage drop at the start line.

  3. (iii)

    This is a competitive category and placing is based on the fastest timing of the run.

  4. (iv)

    There are two age categories for men and women (Open and Veteran). Competition is based on gun time of the timing system.

  5. (v)

    Should there be any dispute, participants agree to abide by the decision made by the race director upon adjudicating the dispute.

  6. (vi)

    Any dispute must be lodged within half an hour of the release of timing for participants to view. Any dispute thereafter cannot be lodged.

  7. (vii)

    Please ensure you have your identity card before claiming your prizes. Prizes must be claimed at the prize-giving ceremony. Failure to collect on event day without prior notice will deem the prize forfeited.

  8. (viii)

    Should you be discovered to be interfering and/or cheating or wearing a bib on behalf of a participant, you will be disqualified.

  9. (ix)

    Performance enhancers or any drugs prohibited by the Ministry of Health in sports competition in Malaysia or worldwide are not allowed. As this is a competitive event, you are required to check your fitness level and you are responsible for your capability to complete the 10km within 2 hours and 30 minutes (the cut-off time). A sweeper bus will pick up participants who fail to meet the cut-off and bring them back to the finish line.

Special terms — 6km Relay

  1. (i)

    Each relay team shall consist of 4 persons; 2 male and 2 female.

  2. (ii)

    There is no upper age limit for the male and female runners in the relay team. The minimum age is 12 years old.

  3. (iii)

    This is a competitive category and you will be given a timing bib to run.

  4. (iv)

    Please take instruction from the road marshals during the event day.

  5. (v)

    Read the checklist and procedure on the relay that we will email closer to the event date.

  6. (vi)

    The 6km Relay runners will be flagged off ahead of the Fun Run participants.

  7. (vii)

    Wear the bib according to the alphabetical order given to the team i.e. from A to D.

  8. (viii)

    All 4 team members must complete 6km. Each person runs 1.5km, holds a baton, and passes it to the next teammate after completing their leg. The team is verified as having completed the 6km when the last team member completes their 1.5km.

  9. (ix)

    The placing of the team will depend on the fastest combined timing for every member to complete the 6km relay.
