What is the RunFest Grand Prix Race?
RunFest Grand Prix Race is a competitive 1 km-loop running event in Kuala Lumpur, held 26–26–28 March 2027 at KL Wellness City, Bukit Jalil. It borrows the Formula 1 weekend format: runners qualify in 4 km waves, and the fastest line up on a static starting grid for the semi-finals and final as the sun goes down. It is organised by Unikorn Events Sdn Bhd as part of Kuala Lumpur RunFest.
What is SEKIDEN?
SEKIDEN is our Short-Ekiden — a 3-person team relay on the 1 km circuit. Each runner completes 4 laps (4 km) before passing the tasuki (the traditional Ekiden sash) to the next runner in the exchange zone, for 12 km in total. There is no baton. Categories are SEKIDEN Men, SEKIDEN Women and SEKIDEN Mix (maximum 2 men per team). Entry is per team, from Fee TBA at Super Early Bird.
How does the Soloist qualifying and finals format work?
Soloists run a 4 km qualifying race (4 laps) in their wave. Your qualifying time sets your grid position. The fastest qualifiers go through to the semi-finals, and the semi-finals decide the final, each started from a static grid. How many advance at each stage is confirmed nearer the event.
How long does it take to run a 4 km race?
Most recreational runners finish 4 km in 20–32 minutes; competitive runners chasing a place in the final will be well under 16 minutes. The Grand Prix Race circuit is a flat 1 km urban loop, so it suits fast times. You do not need to make the finals to take part — the 4 km qualifying wave is a full race in itself.

Soloist categories are Men's Open and Women's Open (18–39) and Men's Veteran and Women's Veteran (40+). SEKIDEN teams are open to any age combination of three adults. Age category is based on your age on race day, 26–28 March 2027.
